ABOUT OPEN DUTCH SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The first Open Dutch Sailing Championships were first held in 2002, as an initiative to join the different championships we knew in The Netherlands. Before the Open Dutch Championships existed, the 13 Olympic disciplines organised there own championships at different places and times. To promote the Dutch Sailing in national and abroad, the Watersportverbond decided in 2002 to organize a brand new event. The existing Dutch Championships joined together in one weekend in September at the Sailing Center Medemblik. This became the Open Dutch Sailing Championships for Olympic- and Paralympic classes. Since 2002 the event developed into the international well known Dutch Open Championships. Every third weekend in September the Open Dutch Sailing Championships are organized.
